Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about high-risk processing, pricing, and getting approved.
What does Guidesync Services do?
Guidesync connects businesses with merchant processing partners who specialize in complex and high-risk payments. We learn about your business, arrange a free statement review, and introduce you to a specialist who can design and price a processing setup for you.
Is Guidesync a payment processor?
No. Guidesync is not a bank, acquirer, or processor. We connect businesses with processing partners, and all accounts are underwritten and approved by those partners and their sponsor banks.
Does it cost anything?
No. The statement review and specialist call are free, with no obligation to switch.
What is a high-risk merchant account?
A merchant account for a business that processors consider higher risk because of its industry, sales model, chargeback history, or credit profile. High-risk accounts are underwritten by banks that knowingly accept those categories.
I was declined or terminated by another processor. Can you help?
Often, yes. Specialized partners regularly work with businesses that were declined, shut down by payment apps, or placed on the MATCH list, depending on the circumstances.
How do I get started?
Fill out the short form. A specialist will contact you to schedule a call and explain how to securely share a recent merchant statement for review.
What makes a business high risk?
Common factors include the industry, high average tickets, recurring billing, future-dated delivery, high chargeback ratios, international sales, limited processing history, or low personal credit.
Can I get a merchant account after being terminated?
Often, yes. Specialized partners work with merchants who were terminated or placed on the MATCH list, depending on the reason and your current situation.
Are high-risk merchant accounts more expensive?
They usually cost more than low-risk accounts, but many high-risk merchants overpay because of padded fees. A statement review shows what fair pricing looks like for your business.
What is interchange-plus pricing?
Interchange-plus passes the card networks' actual cost through to you and adds a fixed, disclosed markup. It is usually the most transparent pricing model.
Can I keep my current terminal or POS?
In many cases, yes. Your specialist will check compatibility before you switch.
Are there long-term contracts?
Our processing partners focus on month-to-month relationships. Your specialist will confirm the terms for your account before you sign.
What is the difference between ACH and eCheck?
An eCheck is a type of ACH payment that is initiated with the customer's bank account and routing number, much like a paper check but processed electronically.
How long do ACH payments take to settle?
Standard ACH typically settles in one to three business days. Some partners offer faster options.
Can high-risk businesses accept ACH?
Yes. Many high-risk merchants add ACH both to lower costs and to diversify away from card-only processing.
What is a card account updater?
A service that receives updated card numbers and expiration dates from participating banks, so stored cards keep working after they are replaced.
Can I offer payment plans for high-ticket purchases?
Yes. Installment plans by card or ACH can be scheduled automatically.
How do I reduce chargebacks on subscriptions?
Clear checkout disclosures, renewal reminders, easy cancellation, and a recognizable billing descriptor all help.
Is the statement review really free?
Yes. There is no cost and no obligation to switch.
What do I need to provide?
One to three recent monthly merchant statements. Your specialist will tell you how to share them securely after your call.
How much can I save?
Every business is different. Savings depend on your card mix, volume, and current pricing. The review will show you exact numbers.
Can I get a merchant account for selling peptides?
Yes. Peptides are considered high risk, but specialized processing partners with the right banking relationships do approve them. Approval depends on your products, website, and business history.
Are supplements considered high risk?
Usually, yes. Supplements and nutraceuticals are classified as high risk because of product claims, regulatory oversight, and the chargeback rates common with trial and subscription offers.
Why are subscription businesses considered high risk?
Because a single dispute can involve several billing cycles, and because "forgot to cancel" chargebacks are common. Processors price and underwrite that risk differently from one-time sales.
Why do processors hold funds on high-ticket sales?
Large transactions from intangible products look like fraud risk to automated systems. If your account was not underwritten for that ticket size, the processor may hold funds until it can review the sale.
Is a dedicated merchant account better than Stripe or Shopify Payments?
For growing stores, often yes. A dedicated account gives you your own underwriting, more stability, and pricing that can drop as volume increases.
Why is travel considered high risk for payment processing?
Because payment is collected well before the service is delivered. If a trip is cancelled, the processor may be responsible for refunds, so it treats the booking window as risk.
Are med spas considered high risk?
Some processors classify them as high risk because of prepaid packages and medical-adjacent services. Specialized partners underwrite med spas regularly on fair terms.
Why do processors consider moving companies high risk?
Deposits collected before service, damage claims, and broker arrangements all lead to elevated chargebacks.
Why is ticketing considered high risk?
Payment is taken before the event, and cancellations can lead to large volumes of refunds or disputes at once.
What is Level 3 processing?
Level 3 processing sends line-item detail such as product codes, quantities, and tax with a commercial card transaction. That extra data can qualify the sale for significantly lower interchange rates.
